Vincentian Spotlight

ELIZABETH GAYNOR

In our first Vincentian Spotlight, we introduce Elizabeth Gaynor, member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Conference.  Liz is currently President of the Conference, her second time serving in that role.  Liz has been an active member of the Society for nearly 25 years. As a new Catholic in 1991, Liz was inspired to join the Society by two of founding members of the conference, Kay Seagen and Father Irving Meyett. As a person devoted to serving others, Liz found a home with the Society. She also found she learned much about the Catholic faith, growing in her own faith as a member. Liz and husband Ron joined the Society together, both being actively involved since joining. She notes that joining the Society together was a place they could share and grow in their faith as a couple and in their marriage. Liz has and continues to contribute much to the Conference and to those we serve.  She first served as President from 2002 to 2008 and has graciously taken up the role again.  Liz has engaged in every aspect of the work of the Conference, but especially important to her are the visits where we meet face to face with those we serve.  She especially values the lasting friendships formed. For Liz, the importance of the Society is growing together as a community of friends who share their faith.  It is also significant to her that the Conference serves the greater community. Over the years Liz has seen firsthand the impact of the Society in the community, of which many may not be aware. But that is the nature of the Society, to serve with humility.  Liz believes the impact in the community comes from the strength of the members in sharing faith and friendship.  While Liz is famous for her baking, especially cakes, her passion is serving others. She believes all have dignity and deserve respect.  Her generosity, humility, and care for others exemplify being Vincentian.
